New: Chordle Drive and Groups. See plans

Terms and conditions

These terms and conditions (“Terms”, “Agreement”) are an agreement between Munklesoft Ltd (“Munklesoft”, “us”, “we” or “our”) and you (“User”, “you” or “your”). This Agreement sets forth the general terms and conditions of your use of the Chordle application and any of its products or services (collectively, “Application” or “Services”).

Chordle accounts

Some Services, including Chordle Personal, Chordle Drive and groups, need a Chordle account. You sign in to it with a Google or Microsoft account, and you’re responsible for keeping that account secure. You must give us a real email address you can receive mail at. You can delete your Chordle account at any time from your profile at subscriptions.chordle.com. Our privacy policy explains what we store and what deleting your account removes.

Subscriptions and payments

Chordle Personal and Chordle groups are paid subscriptions, billed monthly or annually. Subscriptions bought on our website are sold by our payment provider, Lemon Squeezy, as merchant of record, and their checkout terms also apply to the purchase. Licenses bought in the Microsoft Store or Google Play are sold, billed, cancelled and refunded by that store under its own terms.

  • Prices are shown on our pricing page in US dollars and include any sales tax or VAT that applies.
  • Renewal. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period until it’s cancelled.
  • Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from Manage billing in your Chordle account. Cancelling stops the next payment, and you keep access until the end of the period you’ve already paid for.
  • Refunds. You can ask for a full refund within 14 days of any payment by emailing info@chordle.com from the address on your Chordle account.
  • Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, we and Lemon Squeezy will let you know so you can update your card. If it still hasn’t been paid shortly after the period ends, the subscription ends and the paid features stop.
  • Price changes. If we change the price of a subscription you already have, we’ll tell you by email before it applies, and the new price starts from your next renewal after that.
  • Limits. Plans include limits, such as the number of devices and the amount of Chordle Drive storage, which are described when you subscribe and in your account.

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Groups

A group shares a library of songs and set lists between its members. The person who creates a group, and anyone made an admin, can invite and remove members, change their roles, and manage the group’s billing and seats. Each member takes one seat.

  • Trial. New groups are free for 30 days. To keep a group going after its trial, an admin needs to set up billing before the trial ends.
  • Billing. The group’s subscription is paid by whichever admin sets up billing, for the number of seats they choose. Any admin can change seats, manage billing or cancel.
  • Access. Members can use the group’s library while the group has an active trial or subscription. If it ends, members lose access to the library. We keep a lapsed group’s library for two months so an admin can bring it back, then delete it.
  • Shared content. Songs and set lists added to a group can be seen by everyone in it, and editors and admins can change them. Only add content you have the right to share with the group’s members.
  • Any admin can delete a group, which removes everyone from it and deletes its library for all members.

Your content

Songs, set lists and other content you add to Chordle (“Content”) stay yours. By syncing Content with Chordle Drive or adding it to a group, you let us store, copy and send it as needed to provide the Services to you and, for group Content, to the group’s members. You’re responsible for making sure you have the right to use and share any Content you add, including song lyrics and chords.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms, for example by misusing the Services or sharing Content you don’t have the rights to. Where we can, we’ll tell you first and give you a chance to put it right. If we close a paid account for a reason other than a breach of these Terms, we’ll refund any unused part of the period you’ve paid for.

Backups

Your devices, OneDrive and Google Drive. Content on your devices, or synced with OneDrive or Google Drive, is stored by you or by those services, not by us. Please keep your own backups.

Chordle Drive. We take reasonable care to keep the Content you sync with Chordle Drive safe, including keeping backups of our servers. Chordle Drive is a sync service, not a backup service: when you change or delete a song or set list on one device, the change is made on all your devices and on our copy too, and we can’t recover Content you have deleted. We recommend keeping a second copy somewhere else, for example by also syncing with OneDrive or Google Drive.

We do not assume any responsibility or liability for the actions, products, services, and content of any other third-parties. Your linking to any other off-site applications is at your own risk.

Prohibited uses

In addition to other terms as set forth in the Agreement, you are prohibited from using the Application or its Content: (a) for any unlawful purpose; (b) to solicit others to perform or participate in any unlawful acts; (c) to violate any international, federal, provincial or state regulations, rules, laws, or local ordinances; (d) to infringe upon or violate our intellectual property rights or the intellectual property rights of others; (e) to harass, abuse, insult, harm, defame, slander, disparage, intimidate, or discriminate based on gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, race, age, national origin, or disability; (f) to submit false or misleading information; (g) to upload or transmit viruses or any other type of malicious code that will or may be used in any way that will affect the functionality or operation of the Service or of any related application, other applications, or the Internet; (h) to collect or track the personal information of others; (i) to spam, phish, pharm, pretext, spider, crawl, or scrape; (j) for any obscene or immoral purpose; or (k) to interfere with or circumvent the security features of the Service or any related application, other applications, or the Internet. We reserve the right to terminate your use of the Service or any related application for violating any of the prohibited uses.

Limitation of liability

If we fail to comply with these Terms, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these Terms or our failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for any loss or damage that is not foreseeable. Loss or damage is foreseeable if either it is obvious that it will happen or if, at the time these Terms were agreed, both we and you knew it might happen.

We do not exclude or limit in any way our liability to you where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or the negligence of our employees, agents or subcontractors; for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; and for breach of your legal rights in relation to the Services, including the right to receive digital content and services that are as described, fit for purpose, of satisfactory quality and supplied with reasonable care and skill.

If defective digital content that we have supplied damages a device or digital content belonging to you, we will either repair the damage or pay you compensation. However, we will not be liable for damage that you could have avoided by following our advice to apply an update offered to you free of charge, or for damage caused by you failing to correctly follow installation instructions or to have in place the minimum system requirements we advise.

If you use the Services for any commercial or business purpose, we will have no liability to you for any loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption, or loss of business opportunity.

Severability

All rights and restrictions contained in this Agreement may be exercised and shall be applicable and binding only to the extent that they do not violate any applicable laws and are intended to be limited to the extent necessary so that they will not render this Agreement illegal, invalid or unenforceable. If any provision or portion of any provision of this Agreement shall be held to be illegal, invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, it is the intention of the parties that the remaining provisions or portions thereof shall constitute their agreement with respect to the subject matter hereof, and all such remaining provisions or portions thereof shall remain in full force and effect.

Dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and you can bring legal proceedings in respect of the Services in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland, you can bring legal proceedings in either the Scottish or the English courts. If you live in Northern Ireland, you can bring legal proceedings in either the Northern Irish or the English courts.

Changes and amendments

We may change these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the law or in the Services. When we do, we will revise the updated date at the bottom of this page.

If a change would make your paid subscription meaningfully worse for you, we’ll email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you don’t agree to the change, you can cancel your subscription before it takes effect, and we’ll refund the part of the period you’ve already paid for that falls after the change.

Acceptance of these terms

You acknowledge that you have read this Agreement and agree to all its terms and conditions. By using the Application or its Services you agree to be bound by this Agreement. If you do not agree to abide by the terms of this Agreement, you are not authorized to use or access the Application and its Services.
