Signing up to test the new version of Chordle

March 29, 2026

There is a new version of Chordle that is undergoing final testing. If you’re comfortable with testing pre-release software and want to
help out, you can sign up to be a beta tester by emailing us at info@chordle.com and providing the email account you used to purchase Chordle in the Microsoft Store.

Once you’ve signed up, we’ll add your email to the list of beta testers and you’ll be able to update Chordle from the Microsoft Store.

Things you need to know about the beta version:

  • It’s a complete rewrite: We’ve moved to modern technology, which has allowed us to restore support for missing song search engines and makes future updates easier.
  • The layout and design are different: We’ve modernized the app to make it easier to use. Expect a slight learning curve as you get used to where things have moved.
  • It’s still in testing: Expect occasional bugs and missing features. We’ll be releasing regular updates and relying heavily on your feedback as we go.
  • We now use the ChordPro format: By moving away from proportional fonts to the industry-standard ChordPro format, your chords will finally align properly and can be shared with other apps. Your library will convert automatically upon updating. If you notice any slight chord alignment shifts, your automatic library backup will help us fix the underlying issues.
  • Reverting is possible (but only during beta): You can technically downgrade back to the old version, but it takes a few manual steps and you’ll lose any changes made in the beta. Once the new version officially launches, reverting will no longer be possible.
  • Sharing with the old version is “best-effort”: Importing from the old version to the new one should work flawlessly. However, sharing from the new version back to the old one may result in minor formatting differences. Be aware of this if you need to share songs with other users who haven’t updated yet.

There’s more information about the new version, including how to test it and provide feedback, in the testing guide.
